Mandapam Camp
The state government of Tamil Nadu set up Mandapam camp to receive Tamil refugees escaping the civil conflict in Sri Lanka and relocate them to various camps in Tamil Nadu, India. Tamil refugees buy their passsage illegally on boats crossing the treacheous waters of Bay of Bengal. These refugess can neither go back to Sri Lanka for fear of reprisal nor obtain a permanent citizenship in India. Mandapam Camp is their life in-between.
